Winter Splinter
Call for Submissions
We've received an overwhelming response from people all over the world. To be considered for inclusion in the book versions of Winter Splinter, please submit by December 10, 2024 via email to MaysPublishing@Yahoo.com. Send submission as an attached Word document and put "Winter Splinter" in the subject line. We will honor our the original deadline of December 31 and consider those submissions for inclusion on our website.
Winter Splinter is open to anyone, anywhere in the world. This web-based anthology will feature poems and stories about winter. There are numerous cultural and religious holidays during winter. These include Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, and Kwanza. We welcome human stories and poems set against the background of ANY tradition.
We also welcome stories about the weather: cold in the northern hemisphere and hot in the southern hemisphere. A short story about going to beach in Sydney, Australia on Christmas Day would be interesting.
Additionally, we welcome stories that have nothing to do with weather or holidays but occur during winter.
We love edgy short fiction or poetry.
Also, we have room in the book for original art and photography.
Length
We want short pieces from 1 - 5 pages in length. We have received longer submissions and may include them in the book versions, but at this stage, it's challenging to find room for them.
Web-based
This is a web-based anthology. The works will appear on MaysPublishing.com starting on Thanksgiving Day, November 28. Contributors to the book will receive a complimentary e-book copy.
Art and Video
We welcome original art and photography that fits with the theme. At this moment, we are looking for winter cityscapes, but are open to suggestions. We welcome writers recording videos of themselves reading. Any videos would be included in the Kindle versions and may be included in the print version via QR code. Videos are time-consuming to deal with, so please get those to us by early December. Please contact us for instructions on video before submitting them.
How to Submit
We switched web platforms and are having email issues. Please send submissions to MaysPublishing@Yahoo.com as attached Word documents. Alternately, use the contact form on the bottom of the page for more information.
Submission Deadline
The submission deadline is December 31 to be considered for publishing on MaysPublishing.com. To be considered for the print and e-book versions, please submit by December 10.

The "Event" WAS OPEN for submissions until September 30. We received submissions from all over the world. Email inquiries to books@mayspublishing.com.
Chris Ambriz
We were excited to screen "Nosebleed" by local filmmaker, Chris Ambriz, at the Art Museum of South Texas on October 17. He directs horror movies. While "Nosebleed" is not a horror movie, it's about the horrors that sometimes await us at the movie theater.
